One sortable table that compares protein foods on nutrition, cost, climate, water, and suffering at once.
What It Does
This was a brief experiment, one of my first with AI-assistance. It produces an interesting comparison of the different types of impact calculated across different types of animal- and plant-based proteins. I wanted to include metrics like water usage and suffering and I think this is still an interesting idea that could be expanded upon with more data.

- Protein and calories are from the USDA FoodData Central database. Greenhouse-gas and freshwater figures are global-average supply-chain estimates from Poore & Nemecek (2018), via Our World in Data. Prices are approximate U.S. retail estimates; processing level is a simplified, NOVA-inspired classification; and the suffering score is a rough editorial estimate. All values are approximate — see methodology for assumptions and limitations.
