Animal Movement Funding Analysis

What It Does

This was a first draft of a funding analysis to try and dig into what types of initiatives money in the animal protection movement is funding, particularly contrasting corporate welfare engagement and campaigns with everything else. Connects to the Theories of Change project and perhaps they will merge at some point into something more searchable and dynamic.

How it works

I pulled as much data as I could starting with Coefficient Giving's highly transparent grant database and going as far as I could into pulling form 990s from the IRS but ran into problems with donations moved through Donor-Advised Funds where the ability to track program-level use of funds becomes muddy or impossible. I think more time could be spent but I was at least convinced that things are (obviously?) heavily weighted to corporate welfare reforms at the moment.
